No special equipment or props are required. You can use water bottles for weights, bathrobe tie as a stretching strap, firm oversized pillows, a towel folded in thirds for knee padding and a sturdy chair or furniture for balance support. We suggest doing the class on a carpet, rug or mat so your joints are cushioned. You may also purchase Bar Method workout accessories and equipment, including our recommended at-home equipment packages.

General Questions
We recommend close-fitting cropped, ankle, or full-length leggings, a workout tank, or a t-shirt. Avoid any type of shoes! If you're working out with us at home, you may want to be barefoot or in socks. If you're on a slippery surface you'll definitely want to consider grippy socks. Check out our latest apparel and equipment options to get the most out of your Bar Method practice.
Prenatal Modifications
Modifications are required if you're a mom-to-be. Please check out our Prenatal Modifications here. First and foremost, check with your physician before starting any new exercise program. A few general rules; no twisting and keep your uterus higher than your pelvis to protect your back. As your uterus becomes heavy, avoid positions where you are facing the floor or your leg(s) lifted. You'll also want to limit the amount of time you spend on your back (curl, stretching, backdancing), use extra/more support during curl work and limit to exercises like kickstand curl, low curl, high curl with extra pillows behind you. Make sure you're staying fully hydrated and stop to take a break nauseous or light-headed.
