Bar Online Questions: On-Demand and Livestream

Beginner – A simpler class with concentration on learning the technique and set-ups with fewer reps in each exercise.

Method - Low impact. High reward. Our classic interval-training workout is designed to help you lose inches by burning fat and sculpting lean muscles. A well-designed sequence of specific movements will target and reshape your muscles. And stretches incorporated throughout the class will tone and elongate your body. The best method to transform and renew you.

Bar Strength - YES, YOU CAN. Strength comes to those willing to do hard things. This barre strength class amplifies our signature barre exercises with challenging weight work and compound movements to get deeper into the muscle. Push yourself to grab that heavier weight! Your stronger mind and body will thank you.

Advanced – A faster paced class with limited set-ups, more exercises, challenging positions and advanced techniques. This level is ideal for clients who are already familiar with Method classes and want to push their limits.

Bar Method Cardio - Aspire to perspire!! This heart-pumping class features high intensity yet low impact movements that will push you to the max. The continuous and fast-paced cardio barre class design will challenge you AND leave you feeling energized, invigorated, and a little sweaty.

Bar Flow - Our Bar Flow workout infuses Vinyasa yoga flow sequences into our signature Bar Method class to help you strengthen, stretch, and energize. By constantly moving and flowing, you will enjoy an elevated heart rate and master grace, balance, and flexibility with every class. Build your muscles, mind, and inner warrior with Bar Flow. We offer a 60 minute & Express version of this format.

Bar Restore - Because flexibility is as important as strength, we offer Bar Restore. The first half of this class features elements of our signature Bar Method class, designed to give you an intense workout. The second half slows down to focus on stretching the muscles you've just challenged. You’ll emerge feeling renewed and recharged!

Prenatal – A Method level class for prenatal clients with specific modifications given throughout.

No special equipment or props are required. You can use water bottles for weights, bathrobe tie as a stretching strap, firm oversized pillows, a towel folded in thirds for knee padding and a sturdy chair or furniture for balance support. We suggest doing the class on a carpet, rug or mat so your joints are cushioned. You may also purchase Bar Method workout accessories and equipment, including our recommended at-home equipment packages.

General Questions

The Bar Method is for every body. There’s no specific age limit, and in fact our classes include a wide diversity of age groups, from students in their 20s to their 70s. There is also no specific fitness level or ability requirement. One of the many reasons The Bar Method is a great workout for such a wide range of ages and levels of fitness is that our highly-trained, expert instructors always provide modifications to accommodate you wherever you are in your wellness journey and whatever your fitness goals might be.
Yes. The Bar Method is a comprehensive, total body workout, so it will help you build and maintain a high level of fitness. You don’t need to supplement the workout with additional strengthening or stretching exercise, as long as you come to class three-to-five times a week. The Bar Method also works well in conjunction with many types of exercise. Bar Method workouts are a fantastic way to cross-train and compliment other forms of exercise such as; biking, skiing, running, hiking, basketball and more.
Yes! The Bar Method instructors are well-versed in human anatomy and physiology so they can provide modifications while maintaining effectiveness. If you're taking our Bar On-Demand classes and have questions about modifications, please contact us here so we can best assist and support you. If you're taking our Bar Livestream classes, we encourage you use a device with a camera and to keep the camera on during class (when available/applicable) so that the instructor can see you and provide verbal modifications. Please read the applicable sections below to discover how The Bar Method can work for you. Disclaimer: Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program. This general information is not intended to diagnose any medical condition or to replace your healthcare professional.
We recommend a minimum 3-5 times per week. Many participants see results in as little as two weeks with consistent practice. This is all possible depending on how frequency, level of intensity, and diet. On average, Bar Method participants see significant results around three months of consistent healthy diet and exercise.

We recommend close-fitting cropped, ankle, or full-length leggings, a workout tank, or a t-shirt. Avoid any type of shoes! If you're working out with us at home, you may want to be barefoot or in socks. If you're on a slippery surface you'll definitely want to consider grippy socks. Check out our latest apparel and equipment options to get the most out of your Bar Method practice.

Prenatal Modifications

The focused and controlled nature of The Bar Method workout along with the non-impact and isometric moves make it ideal for students with a baby-on-board. We encourage you to consult with your physician before working out when pregnant. If your physician feels you can safely participate in class, then you should get familiar with prenatal modifications. There is also a prenatal modification video with Kiesha on Bar Online - it's about 10 minutes long and walks the user through all the modifications. When you are on the member dashboard filter by difficulty level > prenatal. The modification video is intended to give the user information that can apply to any class. The Bar Method also has a blog post about how to participate in class while pregnant: here

Modifications are required if you're a mom-to-be. Please check out our Prenatal Modifications here. First and foremost, check with your physician before starting any new exercise program. A few general rules; no twisting and keep your uterus higher than your pelvis to protect your back. As your uterus becomes heavy, avoid positions where you are facing the floor or your leg(s) lifted. You'll also want to limit the amount of time you spend on your back (curl, stretching, backdancing), use extra/more support during curl work and limit to exercises like kickstand curl, low curl, high curl with extra pillows behind you. Make sure you're staying fully hydrated and stop to take a break nauseous or light-headed.

We do not offer special rates at this time.
