The Bar Method Palo Alto is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles. Not only does it reshape your entire body, but it allows you to channel your inner strength and leave class feeling strong, confident and poised. Highly-trained instructors customize the exercises to ensure they are safe and effective for any age and every body, including modifications for pregnant women and students with injuries. Our staff and community are here to support you from the moment you walk through the door.
The Bar Method Palo Alto is conveniently located in the Town and Country Village in the heart of Silicon Valley. It features two large workout studios, beautiful locker and shower facilities, and a large retail boutique. We are open 7 days a week with classes throughout the day.

About the owners
Laura Santora began her love affair with the The Bar Method in 2002 after her sister introduced her to the workout. A Palo Alto native, she grew up dancing ballet and always dreamed of involving dance in her life in some way. Trained by Bar Method founder, Burr Leonard, Laura has been teaching The Bar Method for 15 years and loves helping women of all fitness levels achieve their goals. Laura, her husband, Francis, and toddler son, Michael Philip, love biking around town and enjoying many of the outdoor activities the Bay Area has to offer.
Noreen Dante discovered The Bar Method in 2002. She grew up watching her mother hosting yoga classes in the dining room with friends, setting an example of women with poise and strength. She was a competitive swimmer and discovered her joy of yoga as an adult. Noreen loves how The Bar Method combines strengthening with grace to deliver a fun and effective full body workout. A Bar Method instructor for 15 years, she opened one of the first franchise studios! When not at the studio you’ll find Noreen eating great food with friends and spending time exploring the outdoors in the Bay Area.
Walk-in spots are available on a 1st come first serve basis. We recommend reserving classes in advance to guarantee your spot in class. Reservations are available online up to 30 minutes in advance. Reservations can be made anytime via phone or in person. You can reserve one class time per day and be waitlisted for an additional spot.
If a class is full you can add your name to the waitlist online. You will automatically be added to class up to 1 hour prior to class. You will be sent an email confirming your change in status. Being moved off the waitlist into class means you are in class and therefore subject to the cancellation policy. You are responsible for cancelling your class if you are unable to attend.
If you cannot attend class, please cancel your class online, on The Bar Method app, or call the studio before the cancellation cut-off to avoid being charged for a no-show/late cancel. Earliest morning classes require cancellation 12 hours in advance. All classes thereafter require cancellation 1 hour in advance.
Class Package and Limited Memberships such as Club Bar 5 or 8: All Late Cancels or No Shows will be deducted from your package and counted as a session used.
Club Bar Members: In the event of a no-show or late cancellation, your account will be charged $10.
First time students may not enter a class late. Arriving 10 minutes early is highly recommended.
Returning students may enter up to, but not after, 10 minutes into class.
Upon entering class, lift your knees 40 times to warm up before joining in.
Please wear exercise pants that cover the knees (or wear compression/bike shorts under above-knee shorts), a top that cover the midriff, and socks that cover the entire foot.
Students may bring their own socks from home, or purchase Bar Method socks with sticky grips at the studio.
Only clear liquids in a capped water bottle are allowed and encouraged!
No cell phones or pagers are allowed in the studio room during class.
Gum chewing is not allowed in the studio.
Please refrain from wearing strong fragrances to class.
Please be respectful of fellow students & instructors.
Pregnant clients must provide the front desk with a note from their doctor allowing them to take strengthening and stretching classes.
It is strongly encouraged that all pregnant clients take at least one pre-natal class (if offered) before taking a standard class. We also recommend that pregnant clients avoid Level 2 and Bar Move classes.
Pregnant students can opt to take the first half of the class (which focuses on the arms and legs) for half price.
No clients are admitted before they reach 13 years of age.
Clients under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please notify front desk staff and instructors of any illness or injury that may impact your ability to exercise. In some cases, a doctor’s note may be required to allow you to take class.
If you have a cold or anything else that may be contagious we ask that you do not attend class.
Club Bar members are allowed to freeze their memberships twice per year for up to 14 days. A fee of $25 is required each time you freeze your membership.
Class packages expire:
5 class package – 2 months
10 class package – 3 months
30 class package – 1 year
Class Refunds available within 7 days of purchase (less the cost of any classes taken)
Retail items may be returned within 7 days of purchase for store credit only, unworn, with tags still on.
