5 Ways The Bar Method Makes Me Feel

For all those out there who have already experienced a class…or two…or dozens I’m sure you can relate to the thrill of attending The Bar Method, no matter the studio location. Now for those who are unfamiliar with The Bar Method or what a barre class is, please keep reading.

I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again – I’m not a fitness queen, I never have been honestly. Growing up all of my friends were SO into sports. They played softball, lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, etc. As for me, I tried Karate as a kid, but really didn’t love it, especially after getting injured during “free-time spar” work. I also tried out basketball and then tennis camp. Those two were just “ok.” But since I was a little girl, I danced (from the age of 3 until 17) and THAT I loved. I felt good while in dance class, really good. It was fun, kept my heartrate up, and there was opportunity to always improve. That’s exactly how I feel about barre.

For me, barre class is much more difficult than my dance classes as a kid, but it is such an amazing workout. The Bar Method has become a place of personal development for me. I’m not “playing” against anyone and it’s certainly not a competition. I’m working my hardest and aiming to be the best I can be every time I go to class. I stand by this: every single class I leave feeling SO much better than I did coming in. Who doesn’t want that?!

So what are the 5 ways The Bar Method Makes Me Feel, you ask? Ahhh……

Strong

The exercises done in class are working my muscles like never before. It’s actually amazing how such minor movements are causing such change. I can FEEL my triceps becoming stronger, my core has tightened (thanks to all the planks + ab work), and let’s not forget the hard, but extremely rewarding thigh work. The shake is real, ladies!

Empowered

I leave class feeling ready to take on the world and that in and of itself is a feeling that can never fully be explained, but is so valuable. I literally go home and show my boyfriend how I improved on chair, why reverse pushups are the devil (in a good way), and how he should start trying pretzel. I can’t help but share everything I’m learning and accomplishing in class!!

Sexy

Losing fat in a healthy way feels GOOD. I’m so sick of crash diets and 30 second commercials pushing “try this pill for one week and lose 10 pounds.” That sh*t is as fake as it can get and gives women (and men) a false reality of living a healthy lifestyle. I feel sexy in my skin from Bar Method – losing fat and gaining hard-earned muscle is amazing. I’m even wearing jeans two sizes smaller!!

Disciplined

Disciplined along with being prideful is number four on the list because having willpower is not an easy feat. I’ve used Bar Method as a catalyst to stay in a routine, eat clean, and prioritize “me” time. It’s taken me years to find a balance between work and play, and phone time and silent me time. I’m proud because at moments where I would’ve been wasting so much time on meaningless things, I instead am now prioritizing myself whether it’s through meditation, a cup of coffee alone in the park, or a great sweat/shake sesh at The Bar Method. I walk into the studio, put my belongings (phone included) in the locker and just focus an entire 60 minutes on my personal growth. It’s spectacular.

Fit

Uh oh…. Did the “I’m not a fitness queen” gal just list “fit” as one of the ways The Bar Method makes her feel?! Yes people, that did just happen. For the first time in my young professional life I feel really good about my fitness journey. I’m saying yes to more things that I would normally turn down because of fear of being judged. That’s a huge hurdle to overcome and I’m just so truly happy inside. (Crying as I write this – joyful tears though!!)

My wish is for everyone to try a class at The Bar Method at least once in their life. It’s changed my life for the better and I hope (read: know) it will do the same for you!
