5 Attainable New Years Goals

And just like that, the holidays have come and gone. We indulged in everything the holidays has to offer, from gifts to others (and ourselves) to our favorite sugary sweets. Now, we are reminded that we have a new year ahead. When we think of a new year, many of us think of one thing…resolutions. There is so much hype around creating lofty new year’s resolutions, when instead we should focus on setting attainable goals. While we still encourage you to aim high for the overarching goals you set for yourself, here are 5 achievable goals you can set with confidence in 2019:

Compliment Yourself Daily

Sadly, most of us look at ourselves in the mirror each day and find what’s wrong with what we see. Let’s stop that in 2019. Rather than thinking about what you want to change about yourself, think about why you love yourself. Each day you wake up and look at yourself in the mirror as you brush your teeth, give yourself a compliment. Whether it is ‘my hair looks fantastic today’ or ‘I handled that situation at work with extreme professionalism’, each small compliment will start your day on the right note, and over time you will learn to love yourself for all that you are.

Participate in a Bar Method Challenge

During this time of year, many of our studios host challenges to kick off 2019 right. Right up there with the feeling you get when completing a Bar Method class, is the feeling you get when you make someone smile. So whether you volunteer at a local children’s hospital, make a donation to a cancer research foundation, or attend a respectful women’s march, you will be left with a warm heart and an eagerness to do more!

Give Yourself One Hour of ‘Me’ Time a Week

Many of us find ourselves scrambling, wishing there were more hours in a day. With so much to do and so much going on around us, putting aside one full hour for ourselves might seem bananas, but we promise your mind, body, and well-being will thank you for it. Before the week begins, try to plan when and what your ‘me’ time will be for the week. So whether it is a Bar Method class, a late night read before hitting the hay, or baking your favorite gooey brownie on a friday night in, MAKE THE TIME!
