How to Spring Clean Your Life

Spring has sprung, and with the season comes blossoming trees, bright colored leggings, and spring cleaning. Typically when you hear spring cleaning, you imagine going full Marie Kondo on your house, but that’s not the type of spring cleaning we want to talk about today. As we enter the new season, we encourage you to refresh and spring clean your life! Keep reading for a few easy steps on how you can do this.

Detox your digital devices

There are two types of people in this world: those with an inbox of 5,000+ emails and those with zero unread emails at the end of the day. Take some time to detox your digital devices this spring. Here are a few simple steps you can take to clean up your devices and free up some storage:

  1. Filter your inbox to show unread emails, handle important messages, and delete any junk mail.
  2. Unsubscribe to email lists that are not of importance to you.
  3. Delete apps you no longer use. 
  4. Delete old screenshots and photos you do not need. 
  5. Delete old text conversations.

Depending on how cluttered your phone is, this may seem like a tedious task, but we promise it will make you feel so much better. So take a seat, pour yourself a glass of wine, play some Stevie Nicks and start detoxing!

Declutter your thoughts

“What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create”- Buddha. Your thoughts become your reality. If you find your mind filling up with thoughts of stress, self-doubt, negativity, or anger, it’s time to declutter your thoughts. A few of our favorite ways to clear our mind of negativity are to meditate, write in a daily gratitude journal, or take barre class. Take time to think about what you truly want in your life and ask yourself if these negative thoughts will help you get there.

Cleanse your body & get moving

It’s time to cleanse your body, and no, this time it doesn’t require a 3-day juice cleanse! You can also cleanse your body through exercise. Exercise makes you feel good. It releases endorphins, strengthens your joints, relieves stress, boosts confidence, and so much more. As you spring clean your life, take a moment to evaluate your current exercise routine. If you have fallen out of routine, commit to a Bar Method class in the week ahead. If you have stayed consistent with your Bar Method classes, think about ways you can spice up your routine. Perhaps you can try Bar Move, or walk to a local juice bar with a friend after class! Give your body the love & care it needs this season.

Clean up your diet

We encourage our clients to make their health a priority by eating foods that are good for their body, while enjoying treats when their body craves it too! If you are looking to clean up your diet, focus on eating more whole foods and less processed foods. If you’re craving something crunchy, opt for radishes and guacamole instead of chips. When your sweet tooth kicks in, pick your favorite fruit and some Lily’s dark chocolate instead of your son’s Oreos. As you begin to clean up your diet and eat more whole foods, you will notice how your body feels stronger & more energized. Polish your budget

As much as those new Beyond Yoga leggings are calling your name, we encourage you to look at your budget before making any purchases this Spring. As great as a new pair of shoes makes you feel, we think seeing that you stayed within your budget at the end of the month feels even better! As you go through this full life cleanse, evaluate your budget. Take a look at the last few months and track your spending. Determine what additional expenses are most important for you (like Bar Method class) and make room for these expenses in your budget. At the same time, notice the areas where you can reduce spending as well. If you have an upcoming vacation or holiday, determine how much money you want to put aside each month. Take the same determination you bring to Bar Method class and use that drive to stick to your new budget!
